What is RECFISHTAS? RECFISHTAS is the acronym for Recreational Fishing Tasmania. Recreational Fishing Tasmania is the 'public face' of the Tasmanian Amateur Seafishermans Association Inc (TASFA). TASFA (hereafter referred to as RECFISHTAS) has been Incorporated under Tasmanian law since 1979, and was established in response to Government moves to ban recreational cray (rock lobster) pots. RECFISHTAS is an independent Statewide 'grass roots' organisation of recreational fishersrepresenting traditional Tasmanian recreational fishers – those who like to catch and keep fish. RECFISHTAS primary interest is the perpetuation of marine (saltwater) recreational fishing. RECFISHTAS does not get involved in freshwater (trout) fishing issues unless they effect marine fishing e.g. intertidal boundaries. RECFISHTAS is totally funded by individual marine recreational fishers like yourself plus affiliating 'like minded' organisations. RECFISHTAS has a Constitution and Office Bearers President, Secretary, Treasurer Public Officer and a, Committee of Management made up of individual members and delegates from affiliating organisations. All paid up members are eligible to stand for election at the Annual General Meeting which is normally held in October. An indepently audited financial report is lodged with the Tasmanian Corporate Affairs Office each year.
